Space Miner from Venan entertainment is a slick 3-D arcade shooter game for the iPhone with a continuously building plot, shiny original graphics, and state-of-the-art space flying action. The basic idea behind space minor is to hunt down precious ore hidden inside asteroids and space. The controls use a directional pad for rotating your spaceship around space along with the fire button and a thrust button on the right side of the screen.
The plot behind the game is revealed little by little as you start playing. You are Joe. Meet your uncle Jeb who is running an ore mining station and needs your help. You start out with a basic ship that you mind with and as you increase your earnings, you’ll be able to buy upgrades that will help you achieve even higher earnings and so on. Your old uncle Jeb has a southern accent which brings humor into the game. Along with speech bubbles and cartoon like characters, space minor builds slowly and gets you to learn bit by bit. First you’ll work on flying your ship around space which can be tricky to fine-tune. It helps to master flying first before you start using your laser gun to blast away asteroids flying around. As the levels increase you’ll have to also kill hostile robots that shoot at you and then return you can mine their parts for money. Finding ore will get more challenging when you’ll encounter space dust, lowering your visibility as you maneuver around.
You can visit your apartment where you have access to your statistics, awards that you have gathered, and your plus home (the online community and scoreboard). equip your ship gives you six main areas to boost including reactors, engines, collectors, weapons, shields, and scanners. You can also customize many options such as flipping the controls, enabling auto-fire, and customizing all aspects of the controls. The sector map to see available areas for mining. During your missions you’ll run into satellites where you can download additional maps and unlock new sectors. After each mission in her space minor will tally up your loot and increase your score, showing you the progress of reaching the next license level that will give you access to new sectors.
There are many parts to the game that make it unique. Besides the awesome banjo music and sharp crisp graphics, the flying simulation and time travel sequences in the game are entertaining to watch. Blasting away asteroids and avoiding others as you fly will take some practice but you do have a shield that will protect you for some time in case you do ram into a space rock.
Space Miner deserves serious praise for its perfect attention to every details and being brave enough to try something new. It’s one of those games that take time getting used to but when you do, you’ll find your free time being being spent on it entirely. It’s the perfect combination of low stress, high reward, gather and grow style iPhone game. We can’t recommend enough. Space Ore Bust!
