iBP Blood Pressure review

Going to the doctor nowadays is anything but affordable, but most people make it a priority to stay on top of their blood pressure levels. When your BP values are too high or too low you can run into serious health problems. iBP Blood Pressure is an app that helps you gauge approximately what your blood pressure is and keep track of it over the course of time. The app was released by Leading Edge Apps LLC for an iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad and costs $0.99.

It is always a good decision to monitor your blood pressure as it is one of your vital signs. Blood pressure measures your heart’s activity, which varies between a maximum systolic rate, when the muscles start pumping the blood out of the heart’s chambers and into the arteries, over the minimum diastolic rate when the heart muscles relax and let the chambers fill with blood.

To use iBP effectively, you must first know your diastolic and systolic rates as well as your pulse and weight. After filling in the necessary data, the app gives you one of three evaluations, green, yellow, or red, for each of your diastolic and systolic values. The meaning attached to the colors is universal; if green you are in the clear, if yellow you should exercise caution and reflection on your current blood pressure situation, and if red you are in some serious trouble but you can customize any or all of those meanings and amounts in the Settings section. When you have entered in a few figures, the app gives you the option of charting them on a bar or line graph to assess how your numbers change over the course of time. Another smart feature is the ability to email your levels and rates to your MD from within the app.

As Americans, we have a hard time of keeping our blood pressure levels in the green zone especially given all the salt we eat and hard working 50+ hour weeks we put into working every year. iBP Blood Pressure can help us out by keeping all of our BP information in one place to keep tabs on.
