Bob Vawter, Research Actualization Engineer over at Google has posted a demo feed reader app using the Google Web Toolkit to show how it can be used to power an iPhone web app customized for Safari. The app loads RSS feeds from popular tech blogs including Ars Technica, Slashdot, ThinkGeek, Ajaxian and its own GWT Blog. The app uses the Google AJAX Feed API to pull in the feed data, which serves the web app friendly Safari in the iPhone quite nicely.
The user interface of the app is quite similar to the iPhone User Interface (IUI) developed by Joe Hewitt.
This is not meant to be a real world app for end users. It is however a valuable resource and template for developers looking to create a content driven iPhone app. The source code is available from the Google Code page.
