Armadillo Artie review

Want to bring a little of Las Vegas back with you? With Faro Entertainment’s new app, Armadillo Artie, you can–at least the slot machines. It is a 5-reel, 25-line video slot with real-life casino odds and bonus free games. The Bowling Bonus and Free Games are triggered by certain combinations of their respective icons on the reels (see Rules for details); Free Games can’t be re-triggered, and will become Bonus Games, while the Bowling Bonus awards three frames (each consisting of one roll). Otherwise, tap the credit meters on the top to switch between credits and dollars, tap the price to change the denomination, and have at it. You start out with $100 to bet with, but you can replenish your winnings in the Options menu, as well as turning on the iPod to play slots with your own background music. Also in Options is the High Score tracking feature, which will record your best winnings.

Armadillo Artie sports a desert theme, and it never lets you forget it. From the excellent 3D animations of desert creatures to the country western background music, this iPhone app has the look and feel of the Southwest. Even with great graphics and style, Armadillo Artie is still a game app that people who like playing such games of chance will enjoy–not necessarily the truth for those of us who don’t. It’s a solid slots app, and of course, you don’t get any actual winnings, but that probably saves you from a ruinous experience.
