Public Radio Player 2.0 is an iPhone app promoted by PRX, which is aimed at making public radio stations, and the content they broadcast, more visible to the public at large. What’s in it for you? Browse, discover new stations, see their schedules and listen to live streaming feeds. The app uses the iPhone GPS to find stations local public radio stations within 50 miles of where you are. Search feature in the app is great for finding something you like from amongst 300 nationwide stations by category, show name, region, city, frequency, or station call letters. Public Radio is a great iPhone app for getting quality radio programming for free on your iPhone and supporting public radio at the same time. PRX is also a growing social network and community of listeners, producers, and stations collaborating to reshape public radio.
