iPhrase review

iPhrase is an iPhone app for creating simple and quick melodies or even complete compositions using an onscreen piano. The app has two rows of piano keys which you can tap and drag to scroll left and right. Using the two scrollable keyboards you have double the amount of the piano available for use at all times. You can also lock the dragging when you want to start using a piece, which then makes it possible to play back to back notes by dragging on the keys. If you don’t know what a chord is or think composing music is too difficult, don’t worry. With iPhrase, it’s surprisingly easy to create an original melody. You can even input your favorite song or load preset data and rearrange it to create your very own original melody.

iPhrase comes with 3 edit modes. In the Piano edit mode you compose music with the displayed keyboards and record it if you like what you hear. The Chord edit mode lets you drag chords with your fingertips to the Bar Window. Finally the File edit mode is for loading and saving the music you create and record.

Overall, iPhrase is a wonderful music creation app for the iPhone and is a joy to use. Highly recommended for composers and music lovers.
