World Flights is a travel app. by Patrice Arnera that allows you to look up the departure and arrival information for all commercial flights around the world. The app. automatically detects your location and shows you a map of all of the airports near your current location. You can also search for an airport by country, state, city, or airport code.
Once you select an airport, you can look up domestic departures, international departures, domestic arrivals, international arrivals, or search by airline. You can also access that airport’s general information by tapping the tab closest to the bottom of the screen. This screen contains the address, city, and country as well as links to “show route” (which takes you to google maps/directions) and for “weather info” that has the temp., sea level pressure, altimeter, sky condition, and change in weather anticipated from day to night.
When you pull up one of the departure or arrival sections, it shows the flights for the next 24 hours at the airport selected. The flight info is organized by flight, origin, date, and scheduled time of departure or arrival. Once the list of flights comes up, you can tap on any flight in the list to get more information. This screen will tell you the flight number, destination, status, airline, terminal, code share, date, scheduled time of departure/arrival and estimated time of departure/arrival.
The app. has a clean look and is very easy to pick up and use. I like the blue and white color scheme and the simple picture of the plane that appears at the bottom of most of the screens. The plane icon in the upper left hand corner serves as a back button, I wish it were just a back arrow instead for clarity’s sake upon picking the app. up. Also, I wish there was a way to store frequently used routes/flights/airports, but I think this is going to be addressed in the next version (1.1).
World Flights is only $1.99- I think this is a small price to pay for the frequent traveler. This app. provides all the flight info you would need when you’re on the go in a straightforward layout so you can access it quickly. Happy Travels!
