FEATURED APP
Calcbot

Tapbots is at it again, redrawing how we do things with our iPhone’s, this time they’re after the calculator. Calcbot is a calculator app for both iPhone and iPad (thanks to the universal binary) that does basic calucations with style and adds some new features as well. If you’re like most people you don’t just use the calculator for one simple calculation but for a more complex number crunching with multiple inputs and opertions. Even something as simple as adding up your monthly expenses can get cumbersome to keep track of on a basic calculator app. And if you make even just one mistake, you’re screwed, and have to start all over.

Calcbot

Calcbot solves that problem by keeping a running log of all your operations in its little history section. Just swipe the screen down to see the log. Reminds me of the old accounting calculators with the mini tape. To add a little more fun to doing your number crunching, there are awesome little sound effects as you tap away on the keys making things feel realistic. And I don’t even have to mention that the graphics you’ll get in Calcbot, like any other app from Tapbots are slick as a shiny new art piece. The grey, blue and red color scheme looks so good and the big and easy user interface makes makes using Calcbot a pleasure.

Each item in the history view can be shared, emailed out or used as an expression for more complex calculations. You can also clear out your tape history.

Calcbot

For those of you who want more complex calculations like sin, cos, tan, ln, and square roots, and more, just swipe the keypad left and you’ll get to the second hidden screen where those less common features are stored.

The iPad version of Calcbot is simply the best iPad calculator app you’ll find around. The layout is pretty much the same but in landscape mode you have access to the tape history on the right column. Throw in hi-res HD graphics and icons, and support for fast app switching, Calcbot is a must have app for your iPhone and iPad.

I really do wish that Tapbots extends the functionality of Calcbot and eventually adds more niche features like financial, graphing and statistical calculations to make this even a more useful utility app.

Update: Calcbot is on sale for $0.99 so grab it while its a deal.
