It’s rare to see some real painting apps in the AppStore that actually are worth the time. Drawing with your finger can be a difficult but natural way to draw compared to drawing with a mouse or Wacom tablet. PRO Finger Draw Paint is finger-painting simplified. Brought to us by ba.net, PRO Finger Draw Paint is available on the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad for $1.99 or a free version that lacks the eraser, extra brushes, and is supported by Ads.
You get a variety of brushes. The trick and advantage PRO Finger Draw Paint is the proximity autodraw system. Each time you draw a line that is close enough to another line or if you make a curve that is close enough together, it will fill that area in with some nice effects. Shading, chrome effects, fur, all sorts of different ways to make a simple S-curve look amazingly beautiful.
I have a love-hate relationship with PRO Finger Draw Paint. I cannot tell you how annoying it can be. If you clear a drawing, you’ll get two notifications for no reason, each with .index that pretty much screams glitch. A glitch will prevent you from changing your brush after using the clear function too. Instead of just making a save button, you have to press the lock button and home button of your iDevice just to save. Not convenient at all. There is no undo feature, which for a drawing app, is amazingly limited, and each time I saved, it left the option bar at the top of the screen in the image. The app crashes at random, and yet despite ALL of these issues, I still love the way it renders the lines and how it comes together to create one heck of a drawing app.
In one update, they added the ability to actually save your images, a bunch of interesting brushes, and the ability to erase lines… what that tells me is that this app has potential for growth and, if given more time, can have all the glitches and bugs ironed out. Please fix this app because at the moment, it’s the start of one the best drawing apps out there.
