Video streaming iPhone apps hot right now. iCam (Webcam Video Streaming) is a simple to use webcam streaming video app for the iPhone and iPod touch that lets you stream video from you PC or MAC webcams to your iPhone or iPod touch. It doesn’t support sound currently, but you can connect up to 4 different cameras and view them all on in a single screen. Tap any cam to zoom in on it, and double tap zoom out. iCam can deliver both audio and video to your iPhone, but you can choose to turn off audio if you like. iCam is a wonderfully powerful iPhone app which could be used as a baby monitoring tool, home security / surveillance app, or any other fun things you think of.
It’s easy to use also. You just install the host application called iCamSource on your MAC or PC, which works with Windows or OS X. iCam works with USB / FireWire / Built-In webcams. Once you launch the iCamSource app, you register your cam with a username and password of your choosing and click on the Start button. Then just open the iCam iPhone app. They talk together and stream the video to your iPhone in real time. Finally it works over WiFi, 3G and EDGE! For under $5 iCam is a good buy, and is even better that the developer has added motion detection with push notification support!
News Update: Today, A Dallas man watched his home being robbed on his iPhone using his iCam app, while he was in Hartford, Connecticut. According to the Dallas Morning News, “Vincent Hunter was watching two men who threw a brick through a glass door. The webcams, minutes later, show two police officers entering the house.”
