Burning Man fans and attendees will be glad to have this iBurn app on their iPhone or iPod touch this year. The app has a map showing the Black Rock City that you can zoom in and out of by pinching. Although the app works great offline, updates to the Map are posted periodically, which can be re-downloaded by tapping the update map icon in the app.
Besides the useful map section, there are 4 other tabs that list Art, Camps, Events, and Favorites. From any event, camp or art display listing page, you can tap its coordinates link which takes you to the Map with a pushpin for its location. You can also use your GPS to find yourself on the map. There is no way to find things by keyword. Overall, a great reference app and you can’t beat it for free. The iBurn app is actually an open source project, and in fact you can grab the source code here: https://earthdev.burningman.com/hg/iBurn/
Now you just need to figure out a way to avoid getting sand in your iPhone.

“You can also use your GPS to find yourself on the map, that is if your ATT connection is working at Burning Man.”
This is false! The map+gps works just fine without any cell service (thats the point). The GPS does *not* rely on the cell network (in iPhone 3G and newer phones) and the map is fully cached to the phone.
