iPhone apps for Award Shows

GRAMMY LiveGRAMMY Live

The Grammys universal app for iPhone and iPad is filled with music news, videos, photos, and history of the Grammy Awards. The home screen is well-planned and crammed with intuitive functionality. A bar at the top of the screen gives you the opportunity to navigate between news, videos, and photos. The feeds have a photo, brief description, and date. The bottom bar gives you a chance to access Grammy history and winner lists, as well as an opportunity to live stream the Grammys. For music junkies, you will be thrilled with the excellent Grammys universal download.

Hollywood Reporter: The Race to the Oscars®Hollywood Reporter: The Race to the Oscars®

The Hollywood Reporter – The Race to the Oscars iPhone app is a great resource to keep up with the latest news and gossip for the Oscars. The Hollywood Reporter, the venerable newspaper, blends its online content and presence with Oscar facts and information. The navigation is simple and well-planned. All of the movement in the iPhone app takes place from a menu at the bottom of the screen. Visually-interesting and efficient lists make it easy to scroll through selected news stories and blog posts from The Hollywood Reporter. Additionally, you can access its Twitter feed, live streaming of the show, and Oscars trivia with just one touch. The Hollywood Reporter – The Race to the Oscars iPhone app brings together all of the pertinent Oscars information from its various online outlets seamlessly.

OscarsOscars

The official Oscars universal app for iPhone and iPad from ABC Digital feels cluttered and messy. There are so many different graphics on the screen, or parts of graphics falling off the screen. Unfortunately, the navigation is also sloppy. You touch what you think might be an icon to reveal information, but it does nothing and goes nowhere. You scroll through what seems like a never ending banner to access the Twitter feed, Oscars videos, trivia, and nominee information. It’s just hard to filter through the tangled images and navigation. The Oscars universal download will have behind the scenes live streams. Perhaps, this backstage coverage will make it worthwhile. This universal download simply doesn’t reflect the esteem and elegance of the Oscars, which is a shame.

OTRC: On The Red Carpet Entertainment NewsOTRC: On The Red Carpet Entertainment News

On the Red Carpet’s universal app for iPhone and iPad that is a go-to guide to keep up with celebrities, their style, and fashion for all awards shows. This app compliments the weekly On the Red carpet show starring Rachel Smith and Chris Balish. It requires a significant load time to gather its strong visually-oriented content for first use, but once open and active, you will be pleased with the quality content and its fresh arrangement. The home screen is a grid with a photo and captions to dig into the content. If you want to follow Oscars info, then touch that photo on the screen. The article pops up, and other topical stories are scrolled at the top bar. The navigation is very easy and manageable, but the approach and visual impact is different. There is a strong ad presence that limits the quantity of information that can be presented. It’s a bit intrusive, but not an unexpected consequence of a free download. On the Red Carpet’s universal download brings a fresh perspective to awards shows and celebrity happenings.

EmmysEmmys

The Emmys iPhone app is a good resource for movie and television fans. The navigation takes place at the bottom of the screen. You can check out the nominees, live stream, photos, videos, and social media. The interface allows you to browse through loads of information easily. The main problem with the Emmys iPhone app is the dull graphics and visual quality. The Emmys iPhone app is clunky, and the Emmys Awards Show is everything but clunky. Hopefully, the Emmys iPhone app will be upgraded for a more interesting experience in 2012.

CMA WorldCMA World

The CMA World iPhone app is your all-access pass to country music and its celebrations. As the official app of the Country Music Association, you have everything country at your fingertips. Visually, the graphic presence is attractive. Functionally, the navigation and response is stream-lined and intuitive. There are no photos and videos to load in the navigation menus, so it moves quickly and nicely. You have a simple menu navigated through vertical scrolling. The information is simply labeled, like “pictures,” “videos,” “news,” and “nominees.” Once you decide which topic to examine, a list with photos and short blurb relaying the main theme of the content. The CMA World iPhone app brings together a wealth of CMA and country music information that can be searched, filtered, and examined with ease.
