Craft Beer App

Craft Beer App is an iPhone app for the beer lover in you that lets you explore a variety of fine beers from around the US. With Craft Beer App, you can explore what the American Craft Beer market has to offer. Look for brews by region, color, food pairing, season, heritage and “from the draft”, where available. Did you know that Dogfish Head 120 Min IPA has 18% alcohol? Better yet try Sam Adam’s Utopia that might knock you on your feet with its 27.0% alcohol rating.

Regions of American craft beer are split into West coast, Mountain, Central, and East Coast. Find beers to go with meat, poultry, fish, fruits, sandwiches, cheeses, pizzas, and drinks. Or if you want to see what’s in season right now check out Winter brews for example and you’ll find a nice Ommegang Three Philosophers from New York, for a Top fermented Quadruple style amber brew with 9.8% alcohol. Beer colors are specified by either Blond, Amber, Bronze, Red, Brown, or Exotic. Find drinks by heritage style categorized into American, Bavarian, Belgian, English, and Various European. From the Draft section is a blog by brewer Eric H. who gives you monthly updates on what is new in the U.S. craft beer market. The featured section shows four beers that you might not have heard of to try out.

Each beer has information about the following: State, Style, Fermentation, Alcohol, Appearance, Aroma, Taste, and its Overall review. You can rate each beer using a star rating system, add it to your favorites, and read what other community members are saying about the beer. Or you can write your own review about the beer to share with the rest of the community. There is a keyword search tool if you want to find something you know of already. Results in any category can be sorted by Color, Name, Style, or Alcohol percentage.

If you’re big on craft brews, this is a wonderful app. Or if you want to sharpen your knowledge in the fine beers category, this app will bring you up to speed with all the buzz words in no time.

Overall, a great reference app for foodies, and beer lovers. The small buttons can be tricky to tap on at first if you have large fingers, but you’ll get the hang of it after a while.

  1. This App was my Christmas gift to myself (big spender eh?). I think it’s better than 3.5 stars. The quality and detail are top notch. I really like being able to write reviews and rate the beers.
