Fans of Stephen Colbert’s dry wit, rejoice: MTV Networks has released an updated version of their iPhone app that features The Colbert Report’s The Word, just for you. Now you can have Colbert in your pocket to bring out whenever you need a pick-me-up for a crappy day.
This iPhone app has most of The Word segments from the year 2005 to the most recent; you can order them by date or alphabetically for quick procurement. Or, if you’re feeling particularly adventurous, you can choose Random (which is what the app will give you–a random clip). Whenever there is a new Word segment, it will be posted under the Featured button.
The Colbert Report’s The Word is a fairly straightforward app to use. MTV Networks has posted a disclaimer, however, that better video quality can be found using Wi-Fi than an iPhone’s inherent 3G. Using this app with headphones would probably be best, especially if you’re watching in a crowded, noisy area. At just $0.99, this app is quite the deal, since you’re getting at least four years’ worth of clips. Fans will also be happy to know that The Colbert Report is working on more apps.
