If you’re among the hordes that play Farmville or Farm Town on Facebook, you’d probably enjoy Playmesh’s new iPhone app, iFarm. The goal of the game is the same as those on Facebook: plant seeds, harvest them to gain money, and plant some more…maybe decorate and build on your land, as well. Be forewarned, though: you need internet access (3G, Edge, WiFi) in order to play the iFarm iPhone game.
When the game starts, you have a blank plot of land sectioned off into squares. (Word of advice: when the game tells you to pinch the screen to zoom, do the opposite.) Once you’ve zoomed onto an area, double tap an empty square to plow, then double tap again to bring up the store to choose what seeds to plant. Each plant brings different returns, so choose carefully. There are seeds that need to be unlocked before you can use them. To do this, you must gain enough XP to pass onto the next level. Once planted, you have to wait until the plants ripen before you can harvest them for coins. If you tap on the square, it will tell you how long you have to wait until you can harvest. As you gain more and more money, you can build Decorations or buy more tools.
This game app is identical in concept with the ones on Facebook. Unfortunately, it needs to be connected to the Internet in order to play for some reason or another, so if your connection is bad or non-existent, playing will not be fun. The game also tends to lag a bit, so you might inadvertently plant something if you’re one of those people who tap the screen impatiently. You really do need to wait the allotted amount of time before harvest, so you’ll have to have a lot of time on your hands–or an alarm clock handy–if you want get to higher levels. The graphics are cute, and music is quite fitting, but if you’re looking for fast-paced excitement, you should try another app.

What’s the point? This game needs a point. There are no goals or anything of the sort. I would not recommend it to anyone unless you have on time on you hands.

Posted on January 1st, 2010 at 10:35 pm by VanessaI love ifarm. It works well for me. I was trying to figure out how to sell my items back for coins. The settings and tool bar is not instructional on these things. 🙂

Posted on February 6th, 2010 at 3:01 pm by VHello, how can I get playmesh points??
Posted on February 13th, 2010 at 9:47 am by NormantasI liked it at first but all you can do is plant and harvest. You can’t buy more land so you don’t really have anywhere to build anything if you want to plant stuff. Make it where you can enlarge your farm!
