Thanks to Brian Smith, SpinArt–that endlessly entertaining arts and crafts activity we all played with as children–is back, and on your iPhone. Just make sure you’re in Spin mode (the button with the two rotating green arrows should be highlighted), spin the canvas by flicking your finger across it, select the Paint button (above the Spin button), and have at it with your fingers and the colors. The buttons on the right column indicate the size of the brush stroke, and the Star button allows you to save your creation, clear it off, change the canvas color, or upload a picture from your iPhone’s photo roll to work on. Once you feel like you’ve finished with your work of art (or feel dizzy enough), tap the Spin button and then double tap the canvas to get it to stop spinning.
SpinArt is a very fun and engaging app that allows us to indulge our creative side without the mess and the fuss–perfect for children. The controls work smoothly, and the splatter patterns are nicely randomized (that we are allowed to paint the background as well is a nice touch). There are limitless possibilities, experimentation is encouraged, and this app can only get better. Perhaps some additional color choices, or an undo button in the next version would be added to improve this app.

Hey appsafari!
Great review! Just a heads up that a NEW v1.5 of SpinArt was just approved by Apple. This update includes a LONG requested feature of SpinArt…Glitter! You can now spray glitter onto the canvas and some of the bits of glitter sparkle. Hopefully people will enjoy it!
