Lone Star Hold’Em is ideal for anyone looking for a quick, no frills Texas Hold’Em app. You can choose up to three opponents for a game, all of which are silhouettes of the Adduce Studio team members. Opponents have their own unique playing and betting styles. An added perk is the ability to play against your own custom opponents, so if you’ve been itching to show Grandma who’s boss, you can! Custom opponents playing styles are chosen at random, but you have the option to name your opponent as well as choose a picture for them, whether from your photo library or taken from your camera. Blinds and initial stack sizes are also customizable.
The graphics are polished and clean. I like that the layout and animations are simple and organized, decorative without being flashy or chaotic. I liked the sound effects, especially the familiar clink of the chips. There is no music, which is fine by me, however I was disappointed that there was no option to play my own music while in-game.
Lone Star Hold’Em is good for time-killing, easy to turn to for a quick game when there’s nothing else to do. Exiting the app mid-game will save your game and you have the option of resuming the previous, unfinished game the next time you open the app. Currently $1.99 in the App Store, check it out if you’re looking for a simple game of Texas Hold’Em without all the extra filler junk other apps may have.
