NukeZen

The NukeZen iPhone game from Bo Multimedia is a lot like the old school Rubik’s cube, with a timer. It’s similar to the cube because not just two figures have to match, they ALL need to match. This game is challenging, as the puzzles gets bigger each time you complete the last one. It’s a fun game, and before you know it, you’ve killed a sufficient amount of time.

As you travel from country to country, try to disarm nuclear weapons by solving puzzles. Each country has a slightly more difficult puzzle to try to figure out. NukeZen is a little frustrating at times, just when you think you’ve saved an entire country from devastation…the pieces won’t fit together!

Allow me to try to explain how the game is played, since the instructions are simply a vague picture that is itself, a puzzle to figure out: Touch the pink piece and drag it to another pink colored piece to switch places, when the pieces have an open bracket between them, they will illuminate green. Now, try to piece together the rest of the puzzle with the appropriate open brackets between them, creating a large illuminated green piece. You should be able to trace your finger through all of the pieces like a maze. When the whole puzzle is green, congratulations, you saved the country.

After you’ve reached your personal level of frustration for the time being you can exit out of the game at any time, it will automatically save your progress/country.

A word to the wise, don’t try to play this one during class, may cause frequent outbursts of obscenities. The graphics in NukeZen are very bright and clean along with a classic map and compass to give the game some atmosphere. A melodic guitar track fills the background. A clear and concise tutorial could be what this game needs to help give it zen and let users get into it quicker. Overall a creative iPhone puzzler with a great concept and priced well. The gameplay and controls are average but it is surly one that will appeal to the challenge seekers out there.
