30 Rock! A NBC smash hit comedy show with millions of fans and great jokes. With great comedians and Tracy Morgan, you have yourself a popular show with people who know it’s episodes by heart. Scene It is a relatively famous series of quiz games based on popular culture, movies, and television shows. So what about a game where you can us our fandom to get highscores? Released by Screenlife LLC, Scene It? 30 Rock is available on the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad for $1.99.
This is a solid quiz game. No surprise coming from the Scene It game series. There are different quiz types such as multiple choice, complete the line, which character said what, or even scratch to win. The variety keeps the gameplay fresh and entertaining.
Artistically, that is where Scene It? 30 Rock suffers. The text is default black with no borders over a still image of, I have to assume, the Rockefeller building mirrored with a sky background. It’s extremely amateurish with the feeling of a Power Point presentation done by highschoolers. I do have to say though, the production value of the images and movies are surprisingly good. Videos play with no lag, no noticeable artifacting, and the audio is clear. The clips they use are usually for ‘finish the line’ type questions and they are pretty funny, even out of context.
The questions are funny, you can post high scores to your Twitter or Facebook, and you can connect in multiplayer via WiFi or Bluetooth, and you can play with friends by passing the iDevice around. It’s a darn good quiz game with legitimately difficult questions mixed with some that require some careful thinking. Some puzzles can be completed just through trial and error, but that is rare and you’ll definitely be rewarded for knowing the show very well.
Scene It? 30 Rock is a darn good quiz game and the video and image quality are excellent. Yes, parts of it look like bad Power Point presentations, but everything is legible, clean, and overall, pretty good. 30 Rock fans might really like this one just to brag to their friends. I could imagine playing this with some friends while hanging out. Think of it as a digital version of the Scene It board games.
