Scene It? Horror

Oh man, I love horror movies. I love zombies, I love demon hauntings, aliens, ghosts, evil pets, psychopaths, long haired pale girls crawling out of my TV, and I hate Twilight. Yes, I am a horror movie fan and this was the app I just had to play for Halloween. Scene It? Horror is brought to us by Screenlife LLC on the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad for $1.99.

Before we begin, yes, this app will throw in movies that are extremely bad in quality to mix in with the legendary ones. It’s expected and to be honest, the bad ones are sometimes just as entertaining (sometimes). Some of you might cringe at the mere thought that the Psycho remake, Halloween III, The Fourth Kind, or The Ruins are placed with really good ones like The Ring, Paranormal Activity, Shaun of the Dead, Alien, or Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but Scene It? Horror is a quiz game. If you hate a movie, that must mean you’ve seen it, and therefore you would do well on this quiz game, right? Exactly. Win-win.

Scene It? Horror

Now, let’s start off with me saying that I loved this app. Video clips play with great quality, the images are sharp, the background music is creepy and nostalgic, and there are so many different varieties of quiz types to challenge even the most dedicated horror fans. I was honestly surprised just how many of these movies I’ve seen, but most of all, they ask just the right questions to make you really have to think hard about movies you’ve seen multiple times.

You have the normal single player mode with 30 different game types and 15 puzzles, a single-device multiplayer mode where you and your friends can pass the iDevice around taking turns to answer questions, a wifi/Bluetooth multiplayer, and a scream machine that produces screams or zombie moans. My favorite is the single-device multiplayer known as “Death Match” where you and your friends have to pass the phone around and answer questions correctly. Randomly, a hot-potato style timer will go off and the person with the phone gets the instant game-over. You have to basically answer as quickly as possible and hand the iDevice off to someone else before the timer goes off.

Scene It? Horror

Scene It? Horror is a really good horror movie quiz game with lots of material to work with. The graphics are decent, with nice backgrounds and cheesy 3D effects, nice sound quality, great video quality, and of course, the movie references are great. I instantly give credit to this app for not putting Twilight in the horror category. Thank you Scene It? Horror. You didn’t make me feel intense anger while playing your game. Instead, you invoked nostalgia, fear, joy at answering the questions correctly. For those of you reading this review, try this app out for yourself and see how good your horror knowledge really is.
