MooCowMusic have topped off their amazing Pianist iPhone app with a professional iPad version capable of composing and playing very sophisticated melodies and beats, called Pianist Pro. Pianist Pro for the iPad sells for $9.99 in the iPad App Store, and has an extremely large amount of features, bells, and whistles, enough to impress and wow any musician, even a professional. The app comes with 3 sets of piano keys, 1st with a normal layout, 2nd with a double deck layout and 3rd new addition is the scales piano for playing a variety of scales very easily complete with pitch bend, modulation, and swell pedals. Pianist pro boasts a recording and overdub facility that lets you export MIDI and supports MIDI via OSC for wireless control of your DAW or hardware.
You can pick from multiple instrument types in Pianist Pro including Acoustic Guitar, Synthesizers, Pads, Electric Piano, and various Organ types. If this wasn’t enough, there is a full featured drum drum machine app built into Pianist Pro that lets you design and create your own drum patterns using an 16 count loop which has 10 built in drum kit sounds including Electro Kits, Acoustic Kits, Dance, Brush and Drum and Base kits.
The Scale Piano is fun and easy to use. Just pick from a really large selection of musical scale presets (eg. Natural Minor or Pentatonic Blues) or even define your own scales from scratch. Then just slide your fingers and create beautiful music.
Pianist Pro has four pedals and effects and comes with a full featured customizable arpeggiator and the dual mode lets you play with left and right hands simultaneously. Program your notes and chords and play complex arpeggios easily by holding down a few keys. You can adjust your key softness and sustain for maintaining velocity. The iPad version has larger and easier to hit keys and supports all 88 piano keys using the sliding navigation area. The sounds are realistic, crisp, clean and come flying out of the iPad’s powerful speakers to fill the room as if you had a grand piano sitting on your lap. Just imagine what kind of music they would have come up with, if Mozart or Beethoven had been able to use the Pianist Pro app on their iPads. If you’re in the market for an iPad instrument Pianist Pro will not disappoint and is worth every penny. It can be great if you’re just learning to play, or need a simple way to compose music on the go.
