SnapTax review

Wanna file your taxes on your iPhone? Do you live in California and only need to file using a W2? TurboTax SnapTax from Intuit for iPhone has officially released their app for California residents featuring OCR technology that will help you file your taxes using your iPhone. SnapTax is geared towards California residents that file a 1040EZ form.

SnapTax provides you with the ability to file a Federal 1040-EZ, State (California) and E-File right from your iPhone. Fill in the information by hand and even scan your documents and use the built in OCR logic to auto fill your W-2 by taking of photo of it on your iPhone and letting the app do the rest. The scanning feature is almost perfect. To get it to work perfectly you need to take a nice quality photo of your W2 in a well lighted room like an office. Also with the iPhone 3G and 3GS camera you will have a better chance of having a perfect read out. You only then have to read the information and be sure fix any mistakes and answering a few simple questions about this years return.

When you’re done, SnapTax lets you E-File your taxes online using your iPhone. It’s a simple way to make your iPhone do your tedious tasks for you and get your refund back in no time. For under $10, SnapTax is a great alternative to doing your basic Taxes in California at a super low price, with relative ease.
