Ghost Capture review

Whether you believe in the paranormal or not, whether you believe shows like Ghost Hunters or Ghost Adventures on the Travel Channel, or believe in movies like White Noise or Paranormal Activity, you all can admit one thing: It is easy to make cheesy ghost images. Ghost Capture gives you the ability to ‘Photoshop’ your favorite images or a newly taken image and add a ghost into the image. Created by Ghosts Don’t Exist, Ghost Capture is available on the iPhone and iPod touch for $0.99. You must have a iDevice that is running IOS4.0 or greater in order to use this app.

So Ghost Capture was created by people who don’t believe in ghosts. Their goal is basically to prove that images can be easily faked. You can take a new image or use one from your photo library in order to add any of the 40 ‘ghosts’ to it. You can also create your own ghost and use its instructions to create the perfect creepy image for your own uses.

Some of the stock images are genuinely creepy, but it’s really unlikely that any of these images could be seen as real, but then again, I’m a skeptic. Even super cheesy images can get people with no knowledge of Photoshop to believe in ghosts, and for those people, this app has got to be one heck of an amazing app… for everyone else, it’s an interesting app to make any image you send your friends. “OMG DUDE, THERE A KID BEHIND YOU”. Then you can have a laugh.

The ghosts are interesting but limited since quite a few are nearly useless. People can get some fun out of this app however and if you spend some time to make your own, you can make some incredibly creepy images and really get some mileage out of this app. Halloween is only relevant in October, but ghosts are year round.

Oh, and surprisingly, the most interesting thing about this app is just the story about Ghosts Don’t Exist, and inde-film. Really interesting, but only loosely relates to this app. Good job over all however!
