Polarize review

Polarize is a free iPhone app for taking or making Polaroid style photos on your iPhone.

The app is quite simple to use and pretty fast for what it does, giving you quick and pretty impressive results. You take a photo and “use” it in the app. From there Polarize puts a very vintage looking Polaroid style border on your picture and applies an old looking filter to the picture, and puts a very nice 3d style textured Polaroid white border around the picture. Unlike other instant cam type apps the white border Polarize uses isn’t a flat white, but has a nice grained texture that looks really sharp and realistic once you print or save the final picture.

Polarize lets you write a “tag” text on the bottom of your new pic using any text you want and it uses a thick felt marker type font to make the final product look pretty fun and realistic. You are limited to 14 characters max.

Final photos can be saved to your photo library, from where you can then print or email them out. There is no option for posting the photos to your Facebook account directly from within the app, which is not a big deal, if you already are used to the Facebook app anyway. There is a “community” link that takes you to the app’s Flickr page where user show off their Polarized photos. By the way you can also load previous pics from your iPhone photo albums to “Polarize” in the app if you like.

Overall, Polarize is very fun to use. I really like Polarize for its quick turnaround time to make simple and effective Polaroid style photos that look great when printed or posted on profiles. Add the fact that this is a free app, and you have a winner, that you can’t go wrong with.
