Fonix iSpeak is an iPhone app that adds voice-activation to your Apple iPhone. With Fonix iSpeak you can use your voice to call a contact in your address book or simply dial any number.
Just say the number speak the contact name followed by a location designator (home, work, or mobile). For example, “Call John Smith at work,” or the shorter “John Smith work.”
The beauty of iSpeak is that it works out of the box, so you don’t have to import any contacts or train it in the beginning. Just install it and it automatically ties itself into your iPhone contacts. It works with your headset microphone too.
Here is a quick video demo of the iSpeak iPhone app

Posted on June 20th, 2009 at 3:37 am by MarkThe application does not load and disappears.
I have the same issue. I sent an email to Fonix on 6/18. No replay yet.

Posted on June 23rd, 2009 at 5:57 am by SlyJust another in a long list of apps that were not prepared for the transition to 3.0. It’s bad enough the free or .99 apps such as Ereader were not up to speed but you should expect more from a $10.00 app

Posted on June 25th, 2009 at 4:37 am by bahI’ve the same problem of crash at startup after 3.0 upgrade. I find it reprehensible that a company charging that much and touting it’s wares such as Fonix is not ready at public release date.
No reply to email after almost a week.
Fonix, you get a zero from me, and a lost customer.

Posted on June 25th, 2009 at 1:52 pm by bahI have the same issue and emailed Fonix. I received a reply a couple of days later, they said they are almost ready with an update that should fix and compatibility problems with 3.0.

Posted on June 30th, 2009 at 6:52 pm by Rex merzDitto here. Upgraded to 3.0 software level on my 3G to find iSpeak crashes in start-up. How does Fonix not have a compatible version ready at 3.0 launch? I assumed Fonix would work overtime to fix this (6 hour of work fix?), but still not fix as of 7/4/09.

Posted on July 9th, 2009 at 3:32 pm by yvonneI am so angry. I got ripped off too. No reply from the company. I suggest everyone here start leaving reviews on the app review board, so that others do not also fall victim.
I’m so angry I am seriously contemplating dumping my iphone and going back to Palm
Posted on July 12th, 2009 at 4:06 pm by lilir71July 14 and no fix. I’ve been ripped off. Yet another big disappointment from this overhyped phone.
Posted on July 14th, 2009 at 10:53 am by MikeInteresting blog post. What would you say was the most important NLP factor?
Posted on July 20th, 2009 at 2:05 pm by NLP ZineJust got an e-mail from Fonix Support (ispeaksupport@fonix.com)
“Thank you for contacting Fonix Support.
Thank you for contacting Fonix Support for the Apple iPhone. Your questions and concerns are important to us. We will research your issues and get back to you as soon as possible. If you are on the 3.0 version of the iPhone software, Fonix iSpeak will not work. Apple changed the way they deal with audio in 3.0, which is the cause of the crash. We are nearly done rewriting our code to work with 3.0, and will upload it to Apple as soon as it is complete. Sorry about the inconvenience! Please keep an out out for the update.
Thanks
Fonix Support”
Not happy that this was not made clear up front – discovered this *after* buying the app.
