Do you listen to a audio books on your iPhone? If you do, you have noticed that the built in iPod app has trouble remembering (bookmarking) where you left off last time you listened to a book. Enter the Bookmark app for your iPhone or iPod touch with simpe one button tap bookmarks you can create anytime, and a few other nifty features.
Once you open the Bookmark app the first time, it loads in whatever Audio books it fins in iPod and shows you a nice list. Tapping any item on the list starts playing the book or chapter in the book. To bookmark a place in the book while its being played, just tap the Bookmark button once, add some notes to the bookmark if you choose, and click save. Bookmarks get saved for each book individually, so you can’t see all your bookmarks for all your books in one place. But the next time you open and start to play the same book again, the number of bookmarked positions are shown to you and you can jump to any of them with a single tap.
You can create an unlimited number of bookmarks for any book. Other functions provided to you by the Bookmark iPhone app are, the notes, and jumping time ribbon tool. Tapping Notes let you type free text about the book. Use the yellow time ribbon button to easily and accurately jump around in your audio book. You can jump forwards or backwards by 30 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes, 15 minutes, or 30 minutes. The cover of the audio book is shown and tapping it lets you zoom into it. There is a volume control as well for you convenience. Notes can be emailed to anyone easily.
Since the Bookmark app only works with m4a and m4b files, be sure to have them encoded by iTunes correctly by going to the properties and choosing, options, remember playback position, and choosing Audiobook from the Media Kind drop down menu.
Bookmark is a good app for people who are listening to Audio books on the iPhone who are frustrated with not being able to resume their last position. It sells for 3 dollars in the App Store. The design is simple and uncomplicated. Take a look at it for yourself if you’re considering a purchase.
