Do you and your friend both have an iPhone 3GS? Knocking Live Video is a new iPhone app that lets you and your friends do live video sharing over 3G. The Knocking app uses server side technology to stream and broadcast video feeds from your iPhone 3GS camera to its servers and across to the receiving iPhone into the Knocking app. Now you can send and receive live video on your iPhone from your friends anytime.
The app is experiencing lots of media coverage which is causing their servers to be overloaded. This is not a surprise considering that Apple CEO Steve Jobs was contacted by the developers of Knocking after their app was rejected, and Mr. Jobs was actually nice enough to overrule the rejection, getting the Knocking app listed on the App Store within a few hours. So keep in mind that it might not work perfectly right now as they are working to beef up their servers.
Once all the kinks have been worked out, you will get Live video feeds between any two iPhones that have downloaded the knocking live video application. Now that’s quite impressive.
Missing features in the first release of Knocking, that should be coming along are sound and recording functionality, and even perhaps integration with a phone call. Finally the ability to send and receive video with other mobile devices would be great. But for now, Knocking is doing something that has been brewing in the minds of many people for the past 20 years or so, and more recently since the 3GS added video support, live video sharing on the iPhone.
