The KARAOKE Channel Mobile

Who hasn’t danced around the house when home alone, singing into the comb or the toothbrush or the spatula, pretending to be a rock star? Or turned the radio up to blasting after rolling all the car windows up? (You’re lying if you replied in the negative.) Now you can rock out to your heart’s content with Stingray Digital’s The Karaoke Channel.

For only $0.99, the Karaoke Channel comes with 50 complimentary songs from musicians like Coldplay to the Beatles. As you can probably tell from the lightweight size of the app (1.5 MB), you would need an internet connection (3G, wi-fi, etc.) in order to load and play the karaoke videos. The app automatically displays all the Free Songs, but you can change it to another genre by tapping the Show bar. The Charts tab on the bottom toolbar will tell you what the top songs are, and you can also Favorite a video or Search for one. If you visit the online version of the Karaoke Channel, you can make recordings of yourself and share them with friends (the recording feature is currently not supported on the iPhone or iPod Touch)–watch as your recording makes it to the top of the charts!

The KARAOKE Channel Mobile

Upon first launch, you need to sign up for an online account with Karaoke Channel to be granted access to the goodies, but after that, there are no advertisements and no need to sign in again. In your Options (the “i” icon at the top left corner), you can toggle the lead vocals (if available), background themes, and be notified whenever new songs are added. It is also through Options that you can order your 30-day subscription for $2.99. This subscription comes with full access to over 7000 full-length karaoke videos, in which new ones are added weekly; otherwise, you can only listen to 30-second clips of the songs. Songs encompass a wide range of genres: country, pop, Latin, and R&B are all included, for example. You could hold an entire concert with this app, and then some.

The only thing The Karaoke Channel is missing is an entertainment system to go along with all the belting you’ll be doing. Belting is hard to do when all you have is a puny little Touch. The best you could probably do to recreate an actual karaoke experience is to hook the iPhone or Touch up to some serious speakers (you probably won’t miss the stock music videos). At $0.99 with a $2.99 subscription fee, The Karaoke Channel offers one of the best deals out there–instead of paying for each song you want to sing to, your choices are unlimited, and you’re bound to find something that fits your needs (unless your musical tastes are far, far off the beaten path). Indulge your inner diva by downloading this app today.
