ikea skål! review

Here’s a new reason to love Ikea. Skål in Sweden is the word for “Cheers” and ikea skål is a new iPhone app that lets you virtually toast your friends by bumping iPhones. If you want to seriously geek it up this new year’s eve, take a look at his free iPhone app. Here’s how it works. You need to have 2 people with either an iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS who have installed the ikea skål app. You then both open the app and go into the Skåla tab. Choose a glass from gallery of 10 Ikea made glasses each containing either champagne, beer, wine, or even milk. Then you just tap your devices together to toast. You’ll hear the chime of two glasses, while the app snaps a picture using both iPhones’ cameras that captures the actual background and adds the toast glasses over it. It then exchanges the photos between the two devices and stores them in the Mina skålar tab. You can then post the photos on Facebook. You can also share the pictures via just the photo gallery. Besides toasting the ikea skål app lets you view uploaded photos from other users on the Vimmel tab.

The only drawback to all this is the fact that everything in this app is in Swedish, which makes navigating around a challenge. It sure would be a lot more useful if this stuff was in English, but the app is free and worth checking out.
