War has broken out in your tribe and you are under attack by monstrous creatures. But that’s OK because you have godly powers. 9000 BC is a unique iPhone app with a blend of arcade, action, role playing and defense strategy gaming for the iPhone featuring hand drawn stop motion graphics and loaded with options. You’re a caveman stuck in an area that is under heavy fire from tons of crazy monsters launching both ground and air attacks at you. Your enemies include a The Giant, Tree Monster, Fire Devil, The Fat Spear Man just to name a few. If you feel like you won’t get enough of a good thing, think again. The 9000 BC game never ends, because there is no set number of levels, well actually there are unlimited levels, so you just play until you die.
Your village is under attack and your are alone. Defend them using man made weapons and even acts of nature. The basic gameplay involves throwing items at your enemies, starting with spears. You just tap, drag and release to throw the spear towards an enemy as fast as you can. This works for most enemies except for the birds, who are only deterred using a tap and drag away motion. As you kill the assailants, you collect money in the form of shells, which you can use to upgrade your weapons. For example you toss lava from a volcano, strike down from clouds with lightning, and blast fire bush from the scorching sun. Use the Water pools to kill the fire devils. Yo also can burn and fry the enemies with magical spells. Throughout all this mayhem, feed on fish from the sea to keep your strength up. If this all sounds like there’s too much going on, well there is, and that’s what makes 9000 BC an all out finger flicking frenzy that will consume your focus and strategy at close to capacity.
9000 BC uses Openfeint to connect your profile and keep online scores automatically. Graphics are original, entertaining and quite colorful as well. The developer is planning to release updates with feedback sent in from users going forward so be sure to let them know what you like and don’t like about the game, although for us at this point there is very little to complain about.
