Twimon

A combination of World of Warcraft, Pokemon and Tamagotchi, Gungho Online Entertainment’s Twimon game app allows you to hatch an adorable monster egg and raise it to become part of a legion of monsters under your control. These monsters can attack real world outposts to gain points in experience and new evolutionary forms with every conquest. Twimon is a social networking tool linked to Twitter, so you must have an account in order to begin. After signing in, you are immediately presented with your first monster egg, which you grow by tapping on it. You can also nurture it by tweeting or simply allowing time to pass.

Twimon

After hatching your first egg, send it out into the real world by looking up Outposts nearby. Twimon utilizes GPS tracking in order to find these real world posts, so make sure this feature is turned on. Attack these Outposts by setting your monster on it, up to three at a time. The monster will automatically attack in five minute intervals until the outpost topples, securing you the title of the post and the various rewards that come with it. Toppling outposts and tweeting through the app wins you more eggs, which you can then nurture and send out to do battle on more outposts. Repeat this with every monster you raise and every outpost you encounter to become lord–or lady–of the land.

Twimon

The real fun in Twimon is being able to battle against your friends in order to gain control of these real world locations. Conquering your own hometown (at least virtually) is both amusing and addictive. Having a legion of cute little monsters at your disposal is empowering-especially when you can boast to your other friends about your successes or compare victories. The graphics are cutesy and cheerful. Game play is relatively simple and I soon found myself looking forward to hatching more eggs–more likely than not cooing over how adorable they are–and toppling more Outposts. Unlike raising a real pet, Twimon is undemanding so I wouldn’t worry about the game sucking up all your free time. For those who entertain fantasies of commanding legions of monsters and world domination while tweeting about it: Twimon is the perfect app for you.
