RoboSockets

Tatem Games presents, RoboSockets, a addicting puzzle iPhone game in which your objective is to save RoboCivilization by connecting damaged robots together. Sound a bit odd? Indeed, but as weird as this concept may be, the game play is quit fun. You have broken robot pieces that are dropped like the building blocks in Tetris. Each robot has a few sockets sticking out of it. Your objective is to connect the sockets together. Doing so will for some reason blow them up, and you will gain energy. You must fill up the energy requirement for each level to move on.

RoboSockets

I really like RoboSockets because it’s simple to learn, a bit hard, and brought back nostalgia of the fake Tetris handhelds I use to buy in China. There is a small story to the game, but it soon becomes a bit irrelevant because all you have to do is connect the sockets and move on. There are some useless robots that just get in the way, but there are also a ton of different power ups like drills, bombs, and bumpers.

The game is very simple because it just relies on strategic placement of your robots. You can’t rotate them to rearrange the socket and if it wasn’t for the fact that your given random power ups, the game would be very dull. There is a challenge mode along with the default play mode that runs through the story. The story mode just consists of objectives that you must follow to move on.

With every puzzle game, there must always be competition. Although RoboSockets doesn’t have an openfeint option it does have a leader boards option. This shows you your current rank throughout the world. You can also use Game Center with this app to play with friends.

RoboSockets

Unfortunately there isn’t a free version in the app store, but for the low price of 99 cents, it doesn’t hurt to take a gamble. Overall I am comfortable with my purchase along with the amount I spent on this app for the iTouch. Who says cheap simple games have to suck? Robosockets is definitely an app I would recommend someone looking to kill some time and had some spare change.
