Spin Up for iPad is a classic save the world arcade game requiring you to deftly maneuver out of a treacherous tunnel. You acquire weapons, xp, and rocket boosters to defeat aliens, while simultaneously evading them, destroying their computers, and climbing precariously shifting ladders. Spin Up is an iPad game that combines the foresight of chess with quick, agile gesture control in a constantly changing tunnelscape.

Spin Up for iPad has a great tutorial section that hits the main points efficiently and gets you playing quickly. The main goal is to spin the rotating rings to connect pieces of ladder. As you rotate the rings, you grab tools to earn XP and strength against the aliens. The aliens are not completely unknown to you. A red plus icon shows up in the direction the alien will enter the game. You want to disable computers, as you spin the rings, connect the ladders, and climb higher. From time to time, you encounter a ring that you cannot move, so you just have to hang on and hope for the best. Also, some of the ladders are broken ladders, so you have to act quickly to get to the next ladder. If you don’t move fast enough, your hero free falls and is killed.

The Spin Up for iPad game play is fun, yet challenging, as well as graphically rich and interesting. The screen is filled with action, but progress and success depends on planning. When you connect several ladders with the responsive gesture controls, you move really quickly and the next levels of the game are introduced. The speed of the action varies dramatically, so that dynamic energy keeps you engaged. In addition to the dynamic, changing pace of play, the colors, shapes, and perspectives of the tunnelscape constantly change. You are visually shifting gears, so you have to re-acclimate and dig back into the game.
