Canabalt review

Canabalt is a simple Jump ‘n’ Run Game for the iPhone from Semi Secret Software. Your guy wearing a suite (which reminds us of Neo from the Matrix) runs on top of building at warp speed and you just have to tap the screen to have him jump from one building to another without falling to his death. The character is very small and the graphics are old school pixel styled, which means this game is hella fast. Combined with a super edgy sci-fi / thriller soundtrack and action packed sound effects makes for one heck of a kick ass iPhone playing experience. You’ve also got explosions, jumping through glass, running through a flock of birds, speeding trains, jumping over boxes and running though office buildings for added boost.

The color scheme is gray-scale and the buildings are of various lengths and widths, so you better have fast reflexes or your dude will be plunging to his death. What really makes this game a true winner is the perfect synchronization of movements, sounds and instant feedback as you tap the screen, along with high speed action. So if you’re tired of all those 300MB games with 87 different playing options and 2 minute load times, take a look at Canabalt, for a fresh perspective on fun iPhone gaming. Besides the three dollar price point, we have no complaints about this game whatsoever.
