If you’re an average iPhone user, you probably don’t have 12 pages of apps with 192 apps, but if you do have a ton of apps, you know how much of a pain it can be to flick from page 1 to page 10, just to get to your Twitter updates. Orbit, nicknamed “Mobile Expose” is a 3rd party iPhone app developed by Steven Troughton-Smith that you can buy and download from Cydia, that helps you manage your large amount of apps by bringing the Expose mode that you love from the Mac OS to the iPhone. Now you view all your iPhone Springboard app pages from the “forty thousand feet” view and tap any page to jump to that page. The app loads a 3×4 grid of your app pages with tiny icons, and tapping any icon takes you to that page. A simple and effective way to manage and view you loads and loads of apps. There is little hope that you’ll get something like this in the App Store, so either go take the plunge into the hackery required for doing so, or forget about having these neat experimental features.
So here’s another app that will probably make you either wish that you have a jailbroken iPhone, or appreciate the fact that you already have done so. Its not for everyone, but one of those cool & useful mods you should get if you have Cydia handy. Like we said before its a commercial app, and it requires you to have at least a 3.0 OS on your device. A similar app called Stacks was also a revolutionary app that created drop-up menus for accessing more icons easily.
To download this app Open Cydia > Search > “Orbit” > Purchase. The app is called Orbit, and sells through Cydia for $1.99 through the BigBoss packaging system. You also need to login to Cydia using either your Facebook or Google account. The actual payment for apps through Cydia is processed through either PayPal or Amazon Payments.
