SlideAway is a new jailbreak app by Filippo Biga in the Cydia app store that takes over the iPhone Lock Screen and gives you a customizable shortcut bar to get to your apps quickly. Using the SlideAway app you can now jump to your favorite apps without having to unlock the iPhone, see notifications for email and phone calls, and perform powerful new gestures on the Lock Screen.
Go into the Settings for SlideAway and you can configure 2 buttons on the Lock Screen to open up specific apps you want. There is a left button and a right button. You can choose to open any one of these apps with SlideAway: Phone, Camera, Contacts, Mail, Safari, SMS, and Music.
On the Lock screen you will be able to Slide down and the iPhone unlocks. Slide up and you get the app switcher view. You can configure the SlideAway app bar to show either the native app switcher or a custom list of apps that you want shown.
SlideAway also shows you notifications about recent activity on your Lock Screen for things like unread mail count, missed calls, new text messages, and push notifications.
There are 5 visual themes you can choose from for the SlideAway app. SlideAway is available via the ModMyi repository.
Comparable jailbreak apps that provide Lock Screen functionality on the iPhone include: LockInfo and MobileNotifier. It is now also rumored that iOS 5 from Apple will incorporate widgets and gesture based functionality natively into the iPhone’s lock screen.
