When your minutes are low the first thing you think of when a friend is calling is, who is their carrier? You hesitate to ask this question because the last impression you ever want to give a person is that you are cheap. I couldn’t think of anything really useful about Who’s The Carrier other than that it saves you from having to ask your friend what carrier they use to determine how often and for how long you can talk to them for. That way when you find out that they use Verizon, T-Mobile, or Sprint, you don’t have to tell them that that’s the reason you don’t talk to them as much, you can say it’s because you’re busy until later on tonight—meaning after 9pm—and save yourself from looking miserly.
Once you have used the app to investigate your contact’s carriers it marks people with the same carrier as you with an asterisk in your contact’s list. In the app preferences you can allow the automatic tagging of all of your contacts upon application launch and in addition it asks you to select your network carrier. You can also undo all changes in your native address book, which is suggested if you ever decide to uninstall the app. This app has the capacity to call any of your contacts from within it. You also have the ability to find the carrier for any number, not only ones in your contact list.
I had a technical problem with the app when it crashed after I used it for a few minutes, but per the developer’s page in iTunes, this oversight has been fixed and “an update has been sent to Apple for approval.” I deleted it from my phone and then put it back on and it seems to be working fine now.
For $0.99, it is not a bad idea to download Who’s The Carrier. Whether you are frugal like me and you only allow yourself 450 minutes a month, or you have thousands of minutes but are blessed with the gift of the gab, you never know when you’ll need to discretely find out a friend’s carrier.
