MonotoriCamera

I have always wished that the camera on my iPhone could do more. Not that I don’t love the picture quality but what about zoom or focus? Monotoricamera, brought to us by Minimal Apps, provides us with an app that promises to simulate an SLR camera. This app costs $0.99 for the first month it is out (which should be until August 19), then jumps up to $2.99. It can be used on an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad for “easy depth of field effects.”

Monotoricamera introduces a new batch of words to our iCamera vocabulary including saturation, aperture, and contrast. There are plenty of extra features but the main function of the camera is to focus on a particular spot in the frame, which you do by tapping your finger on the screen, and take the picture. The object that you pointed to will be in focus and the rest of the picture will be slightly blurred, giving somewhat of an ethereal look.

When you get into the app there are 3 options, Take a Photo, Select a Photo, and Settings. So you can either choose to take a new picture, find a picture you already have in your photo library to tamper with, or play with the camera settings. In settings, you have the ability to change the size of the photo from a list of 6 different options, you can turn on or off the automatic saving of the photo, you can also turn the contrast and saturation filters on and off, you can change the aperture to any of 8 geometric shapes, you can link up your Twitter account, and lastly, contact information for the app is provided. When you turn the saturation filter on it makes the photos more colorful and when you turn the contrast filter on, the result is a sharpening of the images. When you save a picture you take in Monotoricamera it is sent to your device’s photo gallery.

I can’t stress enough how great this app is. It delivers completely and I had absolutely no problem using it. The picture quality is unflawed. The price has been cut back for a limited amount of time so I suggest snatching this up as soon as you can.
