A step in the direction of making your life as organized and constructive as possible is the acquisition of timer and reminder apps. Timewinder is one such app that distinguishes itself from other apps of its kind with its complexity. It is mainly for multistep activities you may be doing, which instead of setting multiple alarms for, you can consolidate into one Timewinder timer. It was developed by Widget Revolt, costs $2.99, and can be used on an iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad as long as you have iOS 4.0 or later.
There are many components that you can use to construct your timer. With this app you can make use of your music library and photo album and you can add text among other things. To start with, you title your timer and begin constructing it. You can display a picture while the timer is running and you can add text. When the timer finishes you have the option of adding another sound, showing the alert, and setting it on repeat. If you are using it for a workout then you can use upbeat or fast-paced music from your iPod library to break up the segments. You can add as many intervals to your timer as you need.
Templates are provided if you do not have time to go through the motions of making a complex timer. The templates include a training timer, poker timer, baking timer, and Yoga both Yin and Yang routine timers. You can also use this app to set alarms. The options for the alarms are relatively similar to those of the timers. You can name the alarms, add music from your iPod or use their template sounds, which include among others, “Dawg” and “Lotsa Bells” and you have the ability to repeat the alarms within a single day or repeat throughout the week. Timers and alarms work in the background using iOS 4.
I try to be as thrifty as possible so I am not sure this app is entirely necessary. It is definitely fun and productive, but I have not been convinced that I need it. In the words of the developer, “Problems you didn’t even know you had-all solved.”
