PopSugar Mobile review

If you’re one of those people who check TMZ everyday before mainlining coffee or buy US Weekly obsessively, Sugar Inc.’s iPhone app, PopSugar Mobile, is probably the app for you. Already a popular site for pop culture aficionados, PopSugar has decided to help those on the go keep up with all the latest news.

PopSugar reports on a variety of subjects interesting to the modern populace, from celebrities to pets, and most are included in this app. See the full list at the end to see which are in this iPhone app. The interface is simple and clean, very easy to navigate. Just pick the Sugar of your choice by tapping and it’ll take you to the latest stories. It includes a search function and the ability to magnify parts of an article (by holding your finger down on the part you want to magnify). Like Twitter, there is a Load More function down at the bottom, so you won’t miss out any articles if you wait a while before checking PopSugar Mobile.

The biggest draw is, of course, the PopSugar section, which drifts between trivial gossip rag and legit entertainment news. Do you really need to know so-and-so was seen dining while on set? However, some of the other sections also cover areas of personal life, like FitSugar or YumSugar, so there may be something for everyone. It’d be great if there were an option to customize the news feeds, or even which Sugar sections you’d like to read, but that doesn’t exist yet.
