Germinal

If you are one of those people who needs to put antibacterial on your hands at least 20 times a day, Germinal, the “Anitibacterial Crusade,” is probably the game for you. Developed by iTouchables, the game is all about killing germs. Smartly enough, in order to kill a germ, the player needs to push it into the germ with its matching color. The game consists of brain-teasers, like which order to stack the germs to transport them and being aware of how many of the same color you have because they will only die once you match up them up according to their corresponding colors. To be completely honest, I usually like brain-teasers but after playing for 15 minutes I started getting bored.

Germinal

The game’s premise is similar to a comic book in that you are given a story about the germs “escaping” and a mission of “killing them before they end the world.” The game starts out with a training session, where you can familiarize yourself with killing germs and watching out for obstacles. The environments you have to track the germs down in have names like, “Infected Factory,” and “Infected Hospital,” and in each there are 6 levels. Once you have completed each level you get a star rating for how you performed based on the time it took you and the number of moves you used to complete the level. One thing that was interesting is that you don’t have to complete a given level in order to advance to the next level: You can jump around. If you can’t get through level one in the Infected Hospital, you can skip to level seven in the Infected Factory. The germs themselves are just what you would imagine of a comic book cartoon rendition: Bulbous, pastel-colored balls with bulging, jumpy eyes and orange duck lips.

There is a free Germinal, and one that costs $1.99. I would definitely suggest getting the free one if you are compelled to give this app a try. As far as exercising your brain goes, you are better off doing a crossword puzzle or sudoku.
