NinJump is a distance race that uses Open Feint to record high scores. You play as a ninja that jumps back and forth from left to right on the screen. You slash birds, ninja squirrels, other ninjas, and you can gain power ups by killing 3 of the same enemy types. This app is available for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad and is released by Backflip Studios for Free (with an add-free version for $0.99). This app also supports Open Feint, Facebook posting, Twitter posting, and emailing your highscores.
This is an app where you tap the screen once to do everything. Tap to jump and attack on the way across. You attack enemies by timing the jump and you jump to avoid obstacles or difficult-to-kill enemies. Whenever you kill 3 of the same enemies, you gain a powerful. Hit 3 evil birds to gain the angel wings of awesome that propel you upwards, destroying any enemy that gets in your way, 3 ninja stars to gain a super slashing bouncing ability, or 3 ninja squirrels to activate super squirrel climbing. Each powerup increases your distance points and can kill enemies, though you won’t gain any powerup counts for your ninja.
The graphics are shining gold/yellow with very well done powerups and record breaker confetti. Everything has a bright and shiny feel with lots of explosions, stars, feathers, and other particle effects that really give this game a huge feast for your eyes. This is a theme that was overdone and almost stereotypical but executed so incredibly well and explored so deeply for influence that the game is amazingly addictive and fun.
It really is the theme that makes this game standout and really truly excellent. They used the cartoon ninja theme (ninja stars, powers of animals, and climbing walls) and used it excellently. You have a balance of over the top action and a twist to the jumping/platforming game genre.
NinJump on the iPhone is really worth checking out solely because it’s just a ton of fun to play. Once you activate the bird powerup, you’ll find that this game is an entirely unique and more action-packed version of Doodle Jump or Angry Bunny. This is another great one, definitely check it out. I mean… it has a free version! Go and try it out for yourself.
