Rugby Nations 2010

Rugby Nations 2010 is a sports game that allows its user to tear it up on the field like a real rugby player. The game was released by Distinctive Wireless Inc. for an iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad and costs $4.99.

Rugby Nations has all there is in the way of playing a full game of rugby on your device. There are four different game modes to play in which range from the World Cup to individual practice. When starting, you can either choose to Play Now, which allows you to play instantly in a scrimmage, or delve into the game modes to add to the detail of your gaming experience.

Rugby Nations 2010

To begin playing you pick your team from a list of 12 nations; you also have the option to have one chosen for you. As you scroll through the team’s flags, perusing your potential next lineup, you are shown a scale of Kicking, Passing, Tackling, and Speed of each team. I am not sure if the team’s skill levels are fabricated or taken from real statistics but I am guessing the latter. After choosing your team, you pick the match length and difficulty. Before throwing you into a match blind to the control settings the app provides you with a crash course of Attack Controls and Defend Controls. When necessary, the goalie steps into regulate the gaming.

The graphics are spot on and to the naked eye look like something you would see coming from an X-Box or a Wii. There is a replay feature that allows you to watch your brilliant play over and over or show friends your skill. The score and the match time are shown at the top of the screen. Once you start improving your skill and winning games your trophy collection grows. In Options you have the ability to pick one of five languages for your app.

I am not used to playing team sports games so Rugby Nations was challenging for me. I can see even a seasoned professional finding the game taxing. The game offers so many modes and difficulty levels there is no way you will be tiring of it any time soon.
