My Jeweler

My Jeweler is a jewelry app that aids diamond dealers, jewelers, gold traders, buyers, and jewelry lovers by pricing their valuables. The app was released by Appsplit for an iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad and costs $34.99.

This app can be useful for consumers as well as merchants because it lets you plan wish lists, compare prices and catalogue your jewelry. To begin you choose your currency from a list of 33 options. The currency rates are automatically updated daily or any time you refresh them. For merchants the app provides IDEX and Kitco pricing in order to have a good idea of diamond and gold pricing at all times.

Another service My Jeweler provides is general jewelry knowledge including popular diamond shapes, To price a diamond you simply enter the cut, color, clarity, and discount into the wheel and then input the weight. The app gives you tips on how to determine the discount of the particular piece you are trying to price. There is a Collection portion of the app which you can add pieces to when you are done cataloguing or pricing your gems. Other services offered by the app include, storing pictures of your jewels, emailing items that you have stored in your Collection, and viewing the total value of your entire collection at any given time. Let’s be honest, the economy is hurting and this is a quick fix is to pawn off jewels that you own and use rarely. My Jeweler assists you in making the right decision about when to go ahead and hock your grandma’s wedding ring.

My Jeweler

A gripe I encountered while using My Jeweler is that the app kept shutting down unexpectedly and getting stuck with glitches. Even after exiting and trying to reboot I was having trouble with it. Another problem I came across while using the app was that some of the pages in it were running off the screen. My Jeweler is a 35-dollar app so there is no excuse for these glitches.

Other than the inconvenience of times when the program failed me, My Jeweler did not disappoint. It is a stellar app for all things pertaining to jewelry and offers much in the way of understanding and obtaining the value of any given piece of jewelry in real time.

One Comment to “My Jeweler”

  1. This app seems fantastic… as long as it works. I am a professional gemologist and have bought this app about a week ago and it failed loading the basic price list and updates. It is simply useless to me at the moment. I have written to the customer support service and tried to reload the app but there is so far no help and no success. After spending that sort of money on an app, needless to say I am very disappointed. I WOULD NOT recommend this app to anyone unfortunately.
