George Hotz (aka Geohot) is at it again, this time he is going to be releasing a jailbreaking app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch said to be called Rubyra1n. Rubyra1n (pronounced rubyrain) will give users the ability to perform an untethered jailbreak on new devices running the latest iOS firmware version 4.2.1.
Sources have discovered that a domain name has already been registered at rubyra1n.com seemingly by George Hotz, since it contains the same registration information as another site by Geohot, blackra1n.com that was released earlier this year to support his app blackra1n.
Keep in mind that for now this is all speculation. More to come in the next few weeks. And by the way don’t look for any Facebook or Twitter accounts with the word Geohot in them. They are going to be fake for the most part.
If you’re not familiar with the difference between tethered and untethered, basically a tethered jailbreak is a big pain. You will have to plug your device into a computer with a cable each time you want to reboot it. An untethered jailbreak gives you the freedom to do what you want after you’ve gone through the initial jailbreak process.
