While the Qik Live app lets you record and upload video files, the newly released Qik Video Camera app is an offline solution from Qik that lets both first generation iPhones and 3G iPhones record high quality video files using the already existing camera lens.
Qik VideoCamera basically turns your iPhone 2G and 3G into a video camera with 352×288 resolution at 15 frames per second. Video files that you save can be exported to the Camera Roll and edited from there, and synced with iPhoto automatically.
Even if you’ve already got an iPhone 3GS the Qik Video Camera app is good to have for its mealtime video effects that include:
– Black & white
– Black & white with Red – bright red and yellow objects keep their color
– Mirror horizontal and vertical – image is reflected, carnival-style
– Color game (aka “Avatar mode”) – red and blue are reversed
So if you’ve somehow decided not to upgrade your iPhone 2G or 3G and are dying to use the video recording feature, just spend the one dollar on this app you’re set. The user interface is simple and intuitive and very similar to the Qik Live app, which can be downloaded for free.
