Photography seems to be every other person’s hobby nowadays, with a surge in photography blogs as a result. Now, Simpa studio has given you a way to keep track of multiple photography blogs with Whipps, a native iPhone app for WordPress galleries.
The Whipps blog at whipps.org is already pre-loaded into the app, but you can easily add any blog through the third tab on the bottom. Once you’ve added one, it will go into a list titled My blogs on the same tab page. Tap My blogs to see the list, and then tap the one you want to look through for today. The title on the first tab will change to whatever you named the blog, and from there you can explore all the photos the blog owner has uploaded for you, usually in groups of twenty or so. You can save pictures that you are fond of into your iPhone’s camera roll, and then return to the Blogs tab to switch to a new blog.
For this app to work correctly, you need to have internet access through 3G, wi-fi, etc. Unfortunately, a blog also has to have the Whipps WordPress plugin installed in order for you to be able to access its photos. The total sum of these websites equal…three, from my last count (two seconds ago), and they are all suggested by the developer (my personal favorite being the iPhone wallpaper blog). Both the app and the plugin are free, but if not utilized, then are pretty useless. Another downside is that the app has ads flashing while you’re trying to view the photos, which is fairly annoying, if understandable (as this app is entirely free)–the screen is only so big, and I don’t need a shopping ad covering the preview picture. I found Whipps a great source for new wallpaper photos, but until WordPress bloggers start using the plugin and advertise it, the app isn’t going anywhere fast.
This 3rd Party App is available at the Apple iTunes AppStore. Browse the full list of all AppStore apps filed under the AppStore category.
