Undercover review

Undercover from orbicule iPhone theft recovery app that can help you track and find your lost or stolen iPhone using the built in GPS features of the iPhone and iPod touch. Like the Mac version of the same app, Undercover for iPhone uploads the geographic location of your iPhone to its central servers and lets you log in to your personal account and view where it is.

How does it work? If you loose your iPhone, you log into the retrievemyiphone.com website and report it as so. The Undercover app will send a personalized message to the finder if he or she opens the app, informing them what to do. If your iPhone is ever stolen, then the icon for the app changes to emulate a “game” that when played on the iPhone by the thief will hang for a few seconds while uploading the location to your account, and also notifies the police station where you reported it, of its location.

The app costs $4.99 and if it doesn’t get your iPhone or iPod touch back, you can get your purchase money refunded. We’re not sure this is exactly a sellling point, but it is better than nothing.
