Halloween Catch review

Halloween Catch is an app game with one objective: Catching as much Halloween candy as possible from a monster in a castle. It was developed by Iuri Tarabanov and will not cost you a cent. It is compatible with an iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad.

Halloween is by far our best holiday. You get to dress up and pretend you are someone or something else while getting free candy and trinkets in the process. Halloween Catch is centered on catching candy, jack-o-lanterns and cheeseburgers for points. The main character in this game is a little boy wearing Viking horns who is out trick or treating and happens to stumble upon an eerie castle. The owner of the castle is none other than a little gray ghoul that begins throwing out candy to the boy. The game has an easy mode and hard mode.

The only difference between the two is that on hard mode you have to position the boy to catch the candy in his basket, while in easy mode the whole figure can catch the candy. The game offers basic controls. On each side of the bottom half of your device you can manage the boy’s movements. There are no specific indicators but if you want him to run left you press that section of the screen and for right you use the right side. You can tilt your device to make him run backwards. There is a lifeline located in the top right corner of the screen that grows when the boy catches the candy and depletes when the candy drops to the ground. There is a frog that can take the candy from the ground, but if you tap on it you can gain extra points. Tapping the frog, bats, or ghosts in the background will help you get a few extra points here and there.

Halloween Catch is simple, fun, and sure to get you into the Halloween spirit as you fill up the basket with candy. The fog, ghosts, pumpkins, and enormous full moon in the background help in setting the tone. Most importantly, the game, just like the candy you are likely to collect this Sunday, is free.
