Radial 50

Every once in a while you will find a great game in the App Store, that goes beyond what you’re used to, which delivers something ground breaking and fitting for the iPhone. Radial 50 is definitely a gem that fits that profile perfectly. Radial 50 is a 360° Brick Breaker game for the iPhone with a new take on the classic Breakout game first introduced on the Atari in 1976. Radial brings an entirely new aspect to the arcade classic by allowing the player to control the paddle and ball around a 360 degree playfield and focusing the gameplay on defeating a central target, rather than the often painful chore of eliminating all targets on the gameboard. And don’t worry, if you miss hitting the ball, you don’t die right away, you get a few chances before you are fully killed.

Radial 50 turns BrickBreaker games into a warping twisted orb that you control with paddles on the sides by sliding your finger up and down. The primary objective of Radial 50 is to survive 50 rounds of increasingly difficult gameplay and over those rounds achieve the highest score possible. To pass each round, you will use the iPhone’s touch screen to control the paddle to project the ball towards the targets. Striking the targets will eventually unlock the center defense, allowing you to strike the inner most diamond and advance to the next round.

  1. Seems like a good review, how come it got 2.5 stars? The review makes it seem like you guys really liked it.

  2. This is a great app! Fun controls and a clearly original take on brick-breaker style gaming.

  3. I love this game! I play it for hours and don’t get bored… It is getting pretty competitive on the world and US Leaderboards.

  4. Looks a lot like the old iPod game Vortex (came pre-installed on at least 5G classics and 3G nanos) but with much better mechanics and graphics. Can’t go wrong with that.
